Yamaha to build new musical instrument manufacturing plant in Indonesia

The Yamaha Corporation is planning to invest around $43 million into developing a musical instrument manufacturing facility in Indonesia.

According to Indonesia Investments, the firm’s newly announced Yamaha Music Products Asia (YMPA) subsidiary will manufacture various digital music instrument parts, such as piano components, both for the domestic and global market.

The plant will be located in Bekasi and is planned to open in August 2018. It will be Yamaha’s sixth production facility in Indonesia.

The five other factories manufacture pianos, guitars, electronic musical instruments, wind instruments and melodica, and audio-visual products.

Yamaha believes there will be rising demand for musical instruments from emerging markets, and plans to open a manufacturing plant in India in 2018.
