WATCH: Russian gun expert creates musical instrument you have to shoot

The head of the Russian Federation of Practical Shooting has created a musical instrument that has to be struck by bullets ot get a tune out of it.

Yes, really.

It turns out Vitaly Kryuchin is a love for music as well as guns so he built an instrument, which he calls the Metallophon, so he could combine his two passions in life.

The impressive/impractical/down-right-dangerous contraption is made up of different sized metal sheets, all cut to deliver different tones when hit with a bullet.

Kryuchin has a band called Shooting Star (yup) that he performs with.

Just like most front men and women Kryuchin prefers to stand well in front of the rest of the band. Not so much so that he can get all the attention, but so they don’t get spattered with stray bullets.

While the instrument is certainly impressive, its sound isn’t exactly soothing. And while Kryuchin’s shooting is impeccable, the Metallophon would be pretty much impossible for most people to get a tune out of. Plus, you probably wouldn’t want to sit in a concert hall and watch a performance…

If you think I’m making this all up, check out the video below. It will probably be the strangest thing you see all day.
