WATCH: Joseph Gordon-Levitt busks on subway, challenges musicians to play outside

Joseph Gordon-Levitt bashed away on a drum kit in the middle of a subway platform to promote his new artistic project.

The actor performed an enthusiastic drum solo to encourage musicians to create pieces of art that “capture those unmissable, spectacular moments that happen every day”.

Entitled ‘Everyday, Spectacular’, the new project is part of Gordon-Levitt’s HitRecord artistic community platform.

HitRecord is partnering with LG on the project, which will challenge musicians, singers, dancers, and performers of any kind to go into an ordinary setting, and “make a spectacular moment out of that everyday situation”.

HitRecord will be sending out new LG devices to a lucky number of community members to help them capture their performances. However, everyone can work on the project regardless of whether they are lucky enough to be sent a phone, as there will be two versions of the final piece – one exclusively shot on the LG devices and one featuring anyone who took part.

The best bit about the project? Anyone whose work is used in either of the final versions will get paid.

So, to get you inspired, check out Gordon-Levitt’s busking skills in the video below:
