WATCH: Converse creates Chuck Taylor with built-in wah-wah pedal

Converse has revealed a new version of its popular Chuck Taylor sneaker aimed at guitarist and featuring an effects pedal built into the sole.

The Chuck Taylor Chet Atkins All Wah uses micro-sensor technology that tracks the flex of the sole and then sends that information to a wah box via Bluetooth.

The shoe will work with any amp. It can also be connected to a Mac or iPhone.

A Prototype of the shoe was designed by Critical Mass back in 2013, and now, a company called Cute Circuit has developed the idea into the finished product.

Chucks are a popular choice of footwear for musicians. “We wanted to make Chucks even more rock n roll, so we thought, why not make one into a wah-wah pedal?” said Converse in a promotional video for the All Wahs.

In the video, Converse employees detail exactly how they created the shoe. The guitarist has control over the amount of wah by controlling how far they lift their heel up, while keeping the front of the Chucks on the ground, simulation the motion used to play a physical pedal.

Just like a pedal, the guitarist plugs their jack straight into the sole of the shoe and they’re ready to make some noise.

The new sneakers are named after Chet Atkins, the first ever guitarist to use a wah-wah pedal.

There is currently no release date for the trainers, but we’ll keep you updated when we hear more information about the Chucks.
