Viola Beach's debut album will be played on Radio X tonight ahead of release

Radio X will be hosting an album playback at 9pm tonight (Thursday 28th July) of Viola Beach’s debut LP.

The Warrington band and their manager tragically lost their lives in a car accident in Sweden earlier this year before they had a chance to release their self titled album.

“We were lucky enough to cross the path of Viola Beach very early on here at Radio X and were all struck by their energy and potential. We were horribly shaken by the news of the tragic accident in February and decided then to honour the memory of the band as much as we can,” said Mike Walsh, Radio X head of music.

“The more music we heard, the more we loved it and it seemed natural to tell their story, and our special album playback show is one of the ways that we’re celebrating the music of this brilliant young band. We hope that as many people as possible hear this truly great British debut album.”

The session will feature all nine tracks from the LP as well as tributes and testimonials from the band members’ loved ones.

Viola Beach’s self-titled debut album will be released via their own label Fuller Beans Records on Friday July 29th.
