A total of 798 drummers took part in the 2012 Stick it to MS charity fundraiser on July 15th, beating the previous Guinness World Record by 216.
The percussionists were aiming to break the record for the highest number of drummers playing a set beat on full kits, in time with one another, for five minutes. The record prior to Sunday was 582 drummers, which was set at the same event in 2009.
Sponsorship money raised so far via online donations amounts to £59,000, but this doesn't include funds raised using the sponsorship forms.
The event, sponsored by Natal and Marshall Amplification, was held at Event City in Manchester and was attended by Team MI Pro – Intent Media's Rob Baker and Alex Boucher.
The organisers are now waiting for official confirmation from Guinness, which is expected to take "a couple of months."
