US acoustic doyen, Taylor, has announced a series of Limited Edition models destined to reach the UK in April.
Leading the newcomers are the 700 series LTDs, available as a 710ce-LTD, 712ce-LTD, 714ce-LTD (illustrated) or 716ce-LTD. The 700s feature Madagascar rosewood backs and sides, Sitka spruce tops and rosewood bindings while on the inside, the series includes Taylor's proprietary CV bracing and patented relief rout for greater tonal resonance. Finished in a high-gloss, the series includes Madagascar rosewood backstraps trimmed with maple and ebony, Indian rosewood peghead overlays, along with Taylor gold tuners and mother-of-pearl dot inlays on the fretboards.
The new Taylor 400 Series Limiteds feature honey-coloured Tasmanian blackwood backs and sides, accented with maple binding and mini-wedges. With Sitka spruce tops, abalone rosettes, mother-of-pearl diamond fretboard inlays and high-gloss finishes on the top, back and sides, the blackwood 400 Series Limited Edition are available as a 410ce-LTD, 412ce-LTD, 414ce-LTD or 416ce-LTD. Along with the 700 Series, the 400 Series features a sloping Venetian cutaway and Taylor's Expression System 'for high fidelity plugged-in playing'.
Electric players are not being forgotten either, as there is to be a Taylor T5 Spring Limited Edition model. Featuring Taylor's propriety pickups and a five-way pickup switch, the T5 features a satin top of ovangkol with a sapele body of sapele and comes complete with a gig bag.
No UK prices yet, but in the USA, suggested retail prices for the 400 Series-LTDs start at $2,698; 700 Series-LTDs, $3,498; and the T5-LTD, $1,798.
