Schreiber & Keilwerth, specialist in wind instruments, has become part of the French Buffet Crampon group, the world’s leading manufacturer and distributor of brass and woodwind instruments.
This means that the Markneukirchen production site has been saved, along with the jobs of 134 people currently working there. This new collaboration will create a new global leader in woodwind instruments.
Schreiber & Keilwerth and Buffet Crampon have actually co-operated for years as buyer and distributor. As well as allowing the company to continue, this deal also provides the potential for development and progress in the future.
“We are well aware of the skill of the staff and the quality of production in Markneukirchen. Along with the strong brands of Schreiber & Keilwerth this was a crucial factor in our decision to buy the firm,” said Antione Beaussant, Buffet Crampon’s chief executive.
If this agreement hadn’t have been signed, the brass specialist, which has been around for over 80 years, would have had to close down yesterday, according to the insolvency administrator Tobias Hoefer. Other parties were interested in buying the company, but negotiations had failed.
Hoefer had managed to keep the business running since it filed for insolvency on March 12th this year. 118 employees have been made redundant since proceedings started in early May, but they now have the option to switch to an employment and qualification company on similar terms.
At the company’s old base in Nauheim, eight employees will be required to handle the ongoing insolvency process. Afterwards, the site will be closed.
