Sabian announces winners of its Cymbal Vote competition

Earlier this year, Sabian traveled the country with its Cymbal Vote tour, giving drummers the chance to try 12 prototype cymbals, four of which have now gone into production.

At the Winter NAMM show, the four winners were announced by former Dream Theatre drummer, Mike Portnoy.

First up is the 8" and 10" AAX Air Splash, which narrowly missed winning a spot in last year's competition. The cymbals deliver a punchy and cutting splash and feature 3/4" holes in the 8" model and 1" holes in the 10" model. The Air Splash also incorporates a raw bell with AAX hammering and lathing giving it distinct substance and depth.

Next is the 14" and 16" AAX -Plosion hats based on the award-winning design of the X-Plosion crashes. The medium top, medium-heavy bottom combo provides incredible foot balancing a loud and open sound with tight articulation.

Thirdly, the 18" AAX Freq Crash has gone through a Sabian-exclusive dual lathing process giving it an additional fast explosion of tone followed by a change of frequency that fills the stage.

Lastly, the 24" AA Bash Ride (pictured) has been made to fill the demand for larger cymbals. The Bash Ride works equally well as a light ride or as a big crash deoending on how you play it. The smaller bell design helps control sound when used as a ride while the cymbal offers a bigger, crash sound when hit hard.

All of this year's winners are now available in UK dealers. For more information, visit Sabian's website.
