Rico releases Reserve mouthpiece for Bb clarinet

Rico has unveiled the new Reserve Bb clarinet mouthpiece, which was designed with both professionals and advancing players in mind.

The Reserve offers the tone and response of a vintage mouthpiece, along with the intonation and flexibility required by today’s clarinetists. Each one is crafted from Rico’s own unique formula of proprietary hard rubber material and the bore, baffle, chamber, and facing are precision crafted using CNC manufacturing, resulting in high accuracy and consistency from mouthpiece to mouthpiece.

The development of the Reserve mouthpiece began with a search for rare vintage mouthpieces revered for their tonal properties by leading players. After careful analysis using X-Ray technology, Rico was able to determine the specific measurements and properties that made each mouthpiece unique. They then assembled a team of engineers, artists, and craftsmen and invested 18 months of research and development in pursuit of the perfect mouthpiece.

“Building an artist-level mouthpiece requires a commitment to quality,” stated CEO of D’Addario & Company, Jim D’Addario. “We have invested millions into Rico to acquire the most precise machinery available in order to offer mouthpieces that have incredible repeatability."

Reserve Bb clarinet mouthpieces are available now from D'Addario UK with a UK RRP of £100. Three tip openings are offered: X0 1.00mm (close), X5 1.05mm (medium, pictured) and X10 1.10mm (medium open).
