Shrewsbury has a new musical instrument shop, as Golden Guitars opens up in the Pride Hill Centre.
The store has been set up by Rob Cook-Williams who also operates a mail order music business, but being in a shopping centre is a first for him.
He said: “We’ve had shops before but the chance to go inside in a busy retail centre was just too good to miss, we’ve got such a good spot to pick up passing trade as people walk through.
“I’m a song-writer and guitarist myself so I know the music business really well and I’m also keen to support local artists and bands and hope to have their music on sale here as well. Of course I also have a full range of guitars and other musical instruments and equipment and accessories available either here or to order and we’re agents for Marshall amps which are the big name in music systems.
“I have wanted to open a music shop and Shrewsbury is the right place to do and so is the Pride Hill Centre because we’ve got such a good spot to pick up passing trade as people walk through.
“It was just too good a chance to miss because it’s busy and got a good footfall and I aim to provide whatever people want, whether it’s something specialised or a kazoo for a mum to give to her kids.
“I want to make it an accessible shop because sometimes people are frightened to go into some stores because they feel they have to be an expert but we aim to offer a friendly welcome and help to anyone with an interest.
“Even though I am a guitarist and we sell guitars and do guitar set-ups and restringing, that’s not all we do. We’re able to supply all sorts of musical instruments and accessories, from drums to wind instrument reeds."
