NAMM Day 2: Tascam introduces two new Pocketstudio recorders

Tascam has announced two new offerings in its Pocketstudio range of portable recorders: the new DP-006 and DP-008EX.

The battery-powered units are described as 'Music Sketch Pads' and allow for quick and easy recording of musical ideas and even full songs. The recorders feature two condenser microphones directly in the front of the units allowing users to record vocals or acoustic guitar anytime without the need for extra equipment or set-up time. Alternatively, both models have two input jacks allowing you to connect an external microphone, an electric-acoustic guitar and a line-level device like a synthesiser. The DP-008EX can also supply phantom power for condenser microphones, even when being powered by batteries.

Both devices can also import and export in Wav format meaning that you can import instrumental songs created by a DAW and then dub over with the DP-006 or DP-008EX. After recording, you can simply send the file back to your DAW for further editing and mixing.

The devices records to SD/SDHC cards and can be connected to a computer via USB 2.0 for fast file transfer.
