NAMM 2011: JBL Professional reveals ?most musical Eon ever?

JBL Professional and Sound Technology have unveiled the new EON515XT active loudspeaker, designed especially for high performance, durability and ease of use.

The two-way EON515XT incorporates a JBL 2414H high-frequency neodymium compression driver and a 15-inch JBL 265F-1 Differential Drive dual-voice-coil woofer, perfectly matched to a proprietary Crown Class D amplifier.

“In the development of our PRX600 series we’ve learned and implemented quite a few things that enhanced system performance. We knew we could do the same for the EON515XT and quite frankly, we couldn’t wait to do it,” said Richard Ruse, JBL director of marketing for Portable PA.

“Through amplifier optimisation and restructuring the gain stages, we’ve increased the maximum SPL from 129 dB to 132 dB. We’ve made the system quieter when idling and re-voiced the system for a more even spectral balance. I think it’s the most musical Eon we have ever built.”

The system has better clarity and frequency balance than previous models and now delivers a stout 132dB maximum SPL. A further improvement is the input sensitivity being increased by 10dB to accommodate musical instruments, drum machines, keyboards and lower output sound reinforcement and DJ mixers.

Live performers will benefit from the adjustable eq and a simple three-channel mixer configuration, allowing consumers to plug in multiple microphones and instruments.

The EON515XT can be pole-mounted on either a subwoofer or tripod stand using its 36 mm pole-mount socket, and can also be used in a floor monitor position or flown, due to its integrated M10 suspension points.

The JBL EON 515XT is priced at £685 RRP ex VAT.

The company have also announced the EON210P Portable PA System, a device that is compact, light and easy for consumers to use.

“Our new EON210P makes it easy to enjoy great sound almost anywhere. It’s ideal for live music, schools, churches, presentations, parties or anywhere you need clear, powerful sound,” Ruse added.

“And because it’s so intuitive you don’t need to be an audio pro to use the EON210P – you can be up and running in just a few minutes.”

The JBL EON 210P will be available in February 2011 at an estimated price of £999 RRP inc VAT, although price may be subject to change.
