NAMM 2011: BIg names endorse Caleb Chapman project

Caleb Chapman (pictured) has been responsible for creating several professional bands consisting of young musicians aged 14-18 and after signing a deal with four major brands, each of his ensembles will now perform exclusively with Rico reeds, Evans drumheads, D’Addario strings and Planet Waves accessories.

"We’re very excited to establish this link with D’Addario," said Chapman.

"Our musicians believe in D’Addario’s high-quality accessories and we offer D’Addario a visible showcase through our talented young artists.”

Some of the groups to reap the rewards of this deal will be Chapman’s Crescent Super Band who specialise in hip arrangements of the American standards, the Voodoo Orchestra who perform swing numbers from the 30s and 40s and the Soul Research Foundation who perform modern takes on soul bands and performers of the 70s. Others include the Latin jazz band La Onda Caribena and the Little Big Band who dedicate themselves to American swing.

"Caleb Chapman’s efforts in music education are unmatched." said Rico product manager, Robert Polan.

"Providing these amazing learning and performing opportunities to students falls directly in line with D‟Addario & Company’s efforts to promote music education; Caleb will surely be an asset to the family, and we look forward to working with him and his talented bands."

MI Pro’s NAMM news comes from the Retail Up booth at the NAMM Show, Hall C stand 4811.
