The Musicians' Union has produced a Live Music Kit for small venues – due to be launched in line with the Live Music Act, which comes into effect this autumn.
The Kit outlines the terms of the Act, and explains how some small venues will be able to put on live music without the need of a music licence. The Kit also demonstrates how live music can help a business to thrive and features a range of resources and advice, including performance contracts, health and safety issues, promotion and useful contacts.
The MU hopes that venue owners will see the introduction of the Live Music Act as an opportunity to enhance their venue through the introduction of a live music programme and subsequently increase sales and develop a higher profile.
The Live Music Kit will be available for download and in printed format.
PRS for Music is also set to launch a campaign to educate pub landlords on the value of hosting live music.
