MIA names Red Dog Music its Retailer of the Month

The Music Industries Association (MIA) has announced independent music store Red Dog Music as its Retailer of the Month for January.

The shop is also known for its free quarterly magazine, The Dog and for the event that are often held there, such as the Hair of the Dog Sundays in-store gigs and Red Dog Music Clinics.

Issue Two of ‘The Dog’ has just been printed and Red Dog Music is celebrating this by hosting The Dog Strikes Back – a party that’s being held at The Caves tonight (January 27th) from 9pm to 3am, costing six pounds to enter.

The show will feature live music from four local acts: Hidden Orchestra, Digital Jones, Asazi Space Funk Explosion and Donna Maciocoa.

The store also puts on Hair of the Dog Sundays Open Couch Sessions, which takes place on the first Sunday of each month at 3pm and a Fender workshop with Damon Chivers, scheduled for the day before – Saturday February 5th – from 11am until 4pm.

The Edinburgh-based shop was also awarded Best Independent Retailer by the MIA back in 2009.
