Martin Guitar appoints Steve Harvey as new international marketing consultant

Former Acoustic editor in chief Steve Harvey has been announced as Martin Guitar’s new international marketing consultant for Europe.

Effective from August 8th, this newly created consultancy role will see Harvey assume the responsibility for enhancing Martin’s brand presence across Europe and work closely with the company’s distributors and international sales management team.

Harvey is a well-known figure within the industry and brings with him extensive experience having worked at various publishing houses over the last fifteen years.

Following eight years spent at the BBC, Harvey entered the MI industry in 2002, working as title manager, and subsequently managing editor for Bass Guitar Magazine, at Oyster House Media.

In 2004, Harvey became a director of Oyster House Media and was instrumental in the launch of Acoustic, serving as the magazine’s editor for its first four years.

In 2008 Harvey left Oyster House Media and became part of the writing team for Guitarist magazine in an effort to help balance the electric/acoustic editorial remit.

“Steve brings to the Martin Guitar company a wealth of MI industry knowledge and expertise that will greatly enhance our marketing and branding efforts throughout Europe,” said Amani Duncan, VP of brand marketing.

“With our growing presence outside of the US, Steve will be a wonderful addition to our organisation as we believe having him as “boots on the ground” will provide our valued distributors and international sales managers with a key resource.”

Harvey commented: “Acoustic guitar is and has always been my first love. I have thoroughly enjoyed both tenures at Acoustic, and I shall particularly miss overseeing the London music shows, but the offer to work with the world’s most famous and respected acoustic guitar manufacturer is too good an opportunity to miss.

“I am looking forward to utilising the experience I have gained within the MI industry over the past fifteen years or so, as well as take on new and exciting challenges with Martin Guitar.”
