Marshall introduces Class 5

The great and the good from Marshall, its endorsers and a wide selection of press gathered at Ronnie Scott’s on June 27th for the launch of Marshall’s latest amplification offering, the Class 5 combo.

The amp is a tonally rich, five-Watt, all-valve combo with class A circuitry. The amp was conceived in the wake of numerous requests from end users by the Marshall engineers in Bletchley and the will be manufactured in the UK as well.

It was created with the legendary Bluesbreaker amp in mind and very much gets back to basics with its top-loaded, ‘plexi-esque’ panel housing volume, treble, middle and bass controls only.

The all-valve signal path offers untainted analog tones with genuine crunch and lead tones a dial turn away.

The combo houses a G10F-15 speaker, developed with Celestion and the rear panel has both headphones and a 16 Ohm extension cab output sockets – the latter capable of driving a 4x 12" cabinet.

At the launch, a packed Ronnie Scott’s club was treated to an impressive 40-minute set from Joe Bonamassa, whose hard rocking blues style perfectly demonstrated the capabilities of the combo, which has been designed for home and studio use – going to prove that, at a suggested retail price of £349, the bars and clubs around the UK could also be seeing quite a lot of this impressive little amp.
