Major changes announced for Musikmesse 2016

Next year’s Musikmesse will be open to the public for the full duration of the show and will take place from Thursday, April 7th to Sunday, April 10th, in a significant shift in focus for the annual event.

With a greater consumer focus than ever before, consumers will have numerous opportunities for handling and testing instruments on the exhibition stands. “The new concept will enable consumers to experience music with all their senses. And, in this way, we are also making a significant contribution to the promotion of active music making”, said Stephan Kurzawski, Senior Vice President, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. “Additionally, we are creating new contact opportunities for the industry, as it called on us to do.”

The show will maintain a degree of its business focus with an exclusive business hall offering access for members of the trade only. The organisers also aim to further strengthen the business character of the fair with activities for making new contacts.

Furtherrnore, Musikmesse will be relocating to the western section of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre next year and occupy five levels in Halls 8, 9 and 11.

As a result, the Prolight + Sound element of the show will also undergo big changes. According to Messe Frankfurt, Prolight + Sound has benefited from the positive development of the event-technology sector, creating a potential for growth that it "must make space for." As a result, Prolight + Sound will move from its existing home in Halls 8 and 9 to the eastern section of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from next year, where it will occupy Halls 1, 3, 4 and 5, as well as the Congress Centre and outdoor exhibition areas.

“We are acting from a position of strength and want to expand Prolight + Sound hand-in-hand with the sector and for the sector. To this end, we need more space, which the eastern section of the Exhibition Centre offers," said Stephan Kurzawski, senior vice president, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.

In total, Prolight will consist of six exhibition halls, two outdoor arenas, a new indoor arena and a larger area of outdoor exhibition space.

Prolight + Sound 2016 will take place from Tuesday, April 5th to Friday, April 8th.
