iMuso.co.uk has joined forces with German MI retail giant Musik Produktiv Gmbh to form what they believe is now the UK's biggest online musical instrument store.
The new website – Musik-Produktiv.co.uk – is designed to give customers access to thousands of instruments at competitive prices, with all purchases backed by 30-day money back guarantees and a UK sales and returns office.
Musik Productiv has been trading since the 1970s – primarily in Germany and Continental Europe – and was looking for an entry into the UK market until it made contact with Surrey-based iMuso.co.uk, another online retail specialist. The British firm previously ran a small retail outlet in West Molesey as well – with all stock coming from UK suppliers – which is where the new operation's UK office is located.
The German company owns a huge warehouse and flagship store in Ibbenbüren with 3,000 square metres of floor space, making it the largest in Europe. It also has five other stores in Bremen, Düsseldorf, Münster, Oldenburg and Osnabrück.
"They have millions of Euros worth of stock and easy access to much more too, so it was decided that all the shipping would be done by Germany. All the shipments are fully trackable online with the average transit time being only two-to-three days anyway," said Ian Fayers, operations manager of Musik Produktiv UK.
"We have had customers asking if the carriage charges are likely to be extortionate as the goods are coming from Germany but that is not the case. The carriage is free if the order is over £166 (€199) and only £8 if under that, so about the same as most other UK websites anyway.
"We also have the Musik Produktiv Guitar Gallery website, which has detailed photos of selected higher end guitars so that the customer can see exactly what the guitar looks like from all angles before purchasing and is guaranteed to get the exact guitar that they have ordered."
The company has three employees based in the UK and the main site has been live for around a week.
