Guitarguitar announces closure of store in Ghent, Belgium

Retailer Guitarguitar has announced that its store in Ghent, Belgium will close due to the unexpected decision of its landlord to sell the Sint-Joriskaai property.

“It is with deep regret that we announce the closure of our Ghent store,” said managing director Graham Bell. “Unfortunately our landlord’s decision to sell the building has made ongoing trading unviable, as they have already been granted planning permission for a new property.

“Under Belgian law we were given first refusal on the sale, however due to the unforeseen impact of Brexit and the uncertainty that surrounds trading arrangements, currency and economic conditions in both countries, we do not see buying the building as commercially wise at this time.

"We would like to thank Frank and his team for their extraordinary efforts in setting up our Ghent store, and wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavours.”
