Guitar thieves on south coast

Absolute Music of Poole has informed MI Pro of a suspected professional operation working its way along the south coast, stealing high end guitars.

Absolute’s sales director, Andy Legg, said that he had heard of another shop, the Guitar Store, further east along the coast having had three guitars stolen, just a few days before his store suffered the theft of a Martin OM-28V.

No details have been forthcoming as yet from the other store, but the Martin taken from Legg’s outlet was a 2007-made model, serial number 1275659 with an OMHC case, LR Baggs iBeam system with sound hole volume control and in a vintage natural finish.

The picture, taken from Absolute Music’s CCTV, shows the man of the pair, but further pictures, including the female partner are available from MI Pro or from Legg.

“These are professional guitar thieves who seem to be working their way westwards along the south coast,” said Legg. “The thieves are both 40ish and come across as normal professional people. They know a lot about guitars and are happy to engage in conversation. Once they've gone, you realise that you're missing a guitar (or three), which have been secreted in their coats.
