Frederick Hyde completes Percussion Plus purchase

Frederick Hyde has confirmed that it has now completed the purchase of MI manufacturer Percussion Plus.

MI Pro reported last week that the manufacturer had gone into administration after 30 years of trading.

A few days later, retailer and distributor Frederick Hyde announced that it was negotiating a takeover bid and hoped to have the company functioning smoothly in a matter of days.

The purchase is now complete, with managing director John Hughes-Chamberlain commenting: “We are thrilled to have Percussion Plus under our umbrella! We’ve had our eye on this marvellous brand for some time and have some exciting plans to take the company forward.”

As well as Percussion Plus’ ubiquitous and hugely popular red xylophones, the MI manufacturer is also responsible for around 1500 educational percussion products and brands including Sonix drums, Wak-a-tubes, and Perfect Pitch instruments.
