EXCLUSIVE: Premier NOT ceasing UK manufacturing

Following weeks of industry speculation, Premier has exclusively confirmed to MI Pro that its UK manufacturing “has not ceased and will continue.”

Since last month, the company has been the subject of much conjecture after rumours began to circulate online and across social media that the company had ceased all UK manufacturing.

In response to said rumours, the company has today confirmed to MI Pro that this is not the case and that it will continue to manufacture in the UK.

However, it also stated that its Stockport operation is set to close on September 14th, although it declined to comment further on what this means for the business.

Speaking to MI Pro, a Premier spokesperson said: “Whilst we do not comment on specific Internet speculation or market rumours, we can confirm our Stockport operation is set to close on the 14th September. However, Premier’s UK manufacturing has not ceased and will continue. Our drumset, marching and orchestral business remains unaffected by this change. We will not be commenting further on this.”

While the statement directly responds to questions regarding the outright closure of its UK manufacturing business, it certainly raises questions over what exactly the closure of its Stockport operation means for the company and its Stockport staff.

Stay tuned for more on this story as it develops.
