Dawsons plans free recording workshops

Dawsons Music will host Recording for Beginners, a series of free workshops based at its Manchester, Liverpool and Reading stores throughout March.

There will be four workshops in each location presented by experienced UK music technologist, Jono Buchanan.

The sessions are aimed at those interested in learning all the key areas of music production. Buchanan will introduce visitors to various techniques and skills that will get visitors on the road towards recording and mixing their own music – everything from recording guitars, vocals and drums to editing, mixing and bouncing tracks.

Buchanan will take attendees through the recording process, from microphone techniques used to capture instruments to a high quality, through the mixing process, to creating a finished product. All of this will be demonstrated using Apple GarageBand for Mac and iPad, as well as equipment from the event sponsors, including Novation's new Impulse MIDI controllers, Sennheiser microphones, monitors from Yamaha and Apogee audio interfaces.

Attendance is free of charge, but places will be limited. To sign up for one of the events, click here.
