MI Pro checks out the latest musical instrument projects looking for backers, or recently funded, on popular crowdsourcing sites Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

Loog Pro and Loog Mini

Six years ago Loog Guitars launched on Kickstarter. The response to its campaign was impressive, with the firm releasing several updates to the Loog since the initial campaign. Loog is now back on Kickstarter with a Pro and Mini version of its guitar.

Loog Guitars are small, 3-string guitars designed to make it fun and easy for anyone to play music. They come with flashcards and an app that get you playing songs on day one.

The Loog Pro is the next evolution of the original, award-winning Loog Guitar. More than just another iteration, it’s a dramatically improved instrument in every sense: sound, intonation and playability.

The Loog Mini is the ideal first guitar. It's about the same size as a ukulele, but plays and sounds like a guitar because it uses classical guitar strings and standard guitar tuning.

The campaign has already smashed its goal, but there’s still plenty of time to back it over on the Loog Guitars Kickstarter page.

Groove Guitar Picks

The guitar pick has been the same for decades. Groove Guitar Picks is aiming to change that. “We took a patented, detail-capturing, form-fitting thermoplastic and turned it into the most personal, grippy, and comfortable pick out there,” explains the firm.

Groove picks mold to your specific style and grip structure all while maintaining the sound and attack you desire. The Groove Pick is made of a chamfered-edge nylon 1.5 mm pick, and the firm’s special Groove plastic, which molds right to your grip.

Groove has already hit its funding goal, but there’s still time to get involved here.

Minijam Studio

Minijam Studio is a compact electronic music studio that lets you jam with synths and drum machines, developed by the makers of Patchblocks.

“We are taking the idea of a music studio or live performance setup, built entirely out of hardware, and boiled it down to a range of very compact and affordable products,” said Minijam. “The set includes a drum machine, a wavetable synthesizer, an analog filter, a mixer and a speaker. It gives you the feel and fun of jamming with hardware equipment, all bundled in a ready-to-use set with an impressive sound quality.”

Each device is powered by a rechargeable battery and can be used standalone or as part of the set. You don’t need any software or mobile phone.

Another successful campaign, the Minijam has recently reached it goal, but you can still find out more about the project here.

Drumistic

Drumistic promises to be the “only contact connected solution that enables you to feel what you play, record your playing and improve your drumming”.

This new connected solution offers incredible precision (drumsticks movements, hitting zones, drumstick impact, etc.) and lets you drum whenever and wherever you want.

You can easily record yourself and export your playing sessions in different formats, and make progress with interactive, personalized lessons.

At the time of writing Drumistic is well on it’s way to hitting its funding target, check out the official Kickstarter campaign to get involved.
