How is your business compared to this time last year?

Business is up on last year, the recession did take its toll last financial year, but we have definitely seen some “green shoots” over the last 12 months

What are your best selling products and why do they perform so well?

Our Perfect Pitch tuned instruments, for example glocks, xylophones and hand chimes, which are manufactured in our factory continue to be our best sellers. For over 25 years, this range of instruments have always been the first choice as they are highly respected and trusted by musicians and music teachers alike for their quality, durability and perfect pitched tuning to A440 standards.

In what area have you seen the most growth recently?

We are seeing an increase in Export sales as well as our Sonix range of all-in-one starter kits and world-wide drums in particular Taiko and Samba drums.

You support the Made in Britain campaign. Why do you feel it is so important to support British manufacturing?

Supporting British manufacturing is essential to grow our economy and retain the skills our workforce has. To buy authentic British goods, manufactured by skilled craftspeople, using quality materials will allow us to develop and grow our business and therefore in turn, enable us to employ new staff and retain current staff and keep essential wood and metal work skills alive. By increasing trade and export sales, this will assist to grow the economy by generating wealth and employment both directly and indirectly and hopefully make us more resilient to future economic downturns like we have just experienced.

You also manufacture instruments for schools and educators. How important is the educational market for you?

We have supplied the education market for over 25 years with Percussion instruments and understand how important it is for the teachers and students to trust the quality and tone of the instruments they are playing. Teachers know that with Percussion Plus instruments they are well constructed, hard wearing and can withstand the rigours of the music rooms together with being perfectly tuned.  We are well aware that music teacher’s budgets are getting much tighter but believe that we can still provide them with a quality instrument made by an experienced and reputable manufacturer, but still at a competitive price.

What are your aims for the next 12 months?

To continue to offer what our Customers want, increase our product offering and develop Export sales.
