Bösendorfer reveals Liszt Anniversary grand

Bösendorfer has honoured legendary composer Franz Lizst’s 200th birthday year by introducing a specially designed Limited Edition Liszt Anniversary grand piano.

Just 25 of these instruments will be made and all will be finished in black polyester, although customers will be able to choose from a range of sizes. Special features include gold leaf inlays on the pedal lyre and legs and a silhouette of Liszt himself outlined with gold leaf on the music desk.

Liszt made his first performance using a Bösendorfer in 1846, which led to a lifelong close relationship between the pianist and the piano company. Franz became fond of not only the durability and strength offered by its instruments, but also the sound quality.

Every Anniversary model will also come with a framed full-size reproduction of a painting entitled ‘Franz Liszt plays for Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth’, which is still in Bösendorfer’s possession.

The company’s existing grand piano customers are also being given the option of having their instruments customised as a Liszt Anniversary model, with orders already being taken.
