Behringer announced the launch of a new range of installed sound products, namely "microphones to speakers and everything in between," as well as the creation of new department within Behringer, the Behringer Install Group (BIG).
The idea behind the new division is to create an industry specific group that deals solely with what is seen as a very unique market, looking to take advantage of the restaurant, houses of worship, retail and conference markets, where the entry-level audio group has been particularly conspicuous by its absence.
The announcement was made by Costa Lakoumentas, who will head up the new division.
"This is a significant global market," he said. "It is also a market that has a significant way of doing business. We recognise that the contractor is the end user and while the consultants are important, developing a relationship and trust with the contractor is key to the success of this new group."
Lakoumentas went on to preview a couple of the new powered mixers that be the mainstay of the range, claiming "insane connectivity" and "a new benchmark" with the 2000 and 4000 series of amps.
"We are looking to be in every market sector – obviously not from day one, but eventually we will be there."
Behringer's installation products will be handled in the UK through Korg UK, where Mike Gibson has been appointed as the head of a new pro audio division for the British supplier.
