Bailey Guitars aims to inspire a 'guitar making revolution' with fundraising campaign

UK artisan guitar builder and tutor Bailey Guitars has launched a new crowdfunding campaign to inspire a ‘guitar making revolution’ that will allow the firm to take ownership of the building that houses its workshop.

In 2015, Bailey launched its Guitar Making Academy, with the intention of inspiring musicians and would-be musicians around the world to create their own custom built guitars and bass guitars.

It provides an opportunity for anyone to create their own unique electric or acoustic instruments and attain a level of craftsmanship that would otherwise be beyond their financial means, or might not be commercially available.

During the last 15 years, Bailey Guitars has pursued a policy of only working with renewable energy sources, including wind and solar power, and where possible sustainable materials. And so, Bailey Guitars can claim to be amongst the most environmentally friendly instrument builders in the world.

The workshop, located on the west coast of Scotland near Ayr, has attracted students from across the world, including places as far away as Tasmania and Brazil.

The building has been leased during that time and now Bailey Guitars has an opportunity to take ownership of the property and establish a permanent base for the manufacture of its signature instruments; and to run its popular guitar-making workshops, in which over 400 students have already participated.

The building that houses the current Bailey workshop has been in existence since before 1850, and while it has been fairly reliable, it now requires major investment to bring it into the 21st century.

The Indiegogo campaign is offering a number of unique incentives for investors including:

– A range of special deals to take part in guitar-making courses
– An ‘early bird’ offer for a limited edition range of signature guitars being created just for this campaign
– A full VIP experience to travel to Bailey Guitars and create your very own instrument in a one-to-one tutorial with Mark Bailey
– A once-in-a-lifetime chance to own the very first instrument made by Mark Bailey when he started his business in 1998
– A custom-built ‘Air’ Guitar, which will be personally signed by Mark in invisible ink!

Mark Bailey, founder and owner of Bailey Guitars, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for us to revolutionise how we operate our workshops, and gives us amazing potential to grow what we do in a really exciting way. However, to really sustain what we do, we need a larger and more permanent space.

“Every penny of the money raised is being invested into our workshop, so that even if we are fortunate enough to raise more than we need to secure the property, we will continue to improve the facilities for our students, and to make our business even more sustainable and environmentally-friendly.”
