Abbey Road Studios and Metro launch Battle of the Bands

Iconic London recording studio Abbey Road has joined forces with UK newspaper Metro to launch a Battle of the Bands.

The online competition pools together their musical knowhow in a quest to find the UK’s best unsigned artists, allowing the winner to record in Abbey Road’s brand new recording studios – The Gatehouse and The Front Room.

Finalists will have their music judged by an expert panel including the legendary Nile Rodgers from Chic, music and arts journalist Malcom Jack and Abbey Road engineer Matt Mysko, whose recording credits include works by Frank Ocean, James Blake and Liam Gallagher.

The Gatehouse and The Front Room have both been designed to make the magic of Abbey Road more accessible to emerging artists and producers.

Working alongside one of the studio’s world class engineers, the winner will spend a day recording and perfecting their track. One of Abbey Road’s award winning mastering engineers will get their hands on the track too.

To enter the competition, all you have to do is save your track as a wav/aiff audio file, clearly labelling your track with both “artist name” and “track name.” Submit your track to in an email as a Dropbox download link or similar with the info above as well as your band or artist Facebook page. Streaming links with download enabled are also acceptable.

The deadline for submitting a track is June 19th.
