Coated, extended play strings offer identical sound to XLs

D’Addario has launched the EXP Electric strings – extended play strings that sound identical to the world-famous D’Addario XL strings.

D’Addario’s EXP wire machine draws wire from rod, anneals, cleans, coats, cures and spools wire all in one continuous process. By using a 50 per cent thinner and more concentric coating on the wrap wires, the EXP Electric strings deliver longer life, natural tone, and the feel of uncoated strings. The strings also offer four times more corrosion resistance of plain steel strings through an exclusive compound tin-plating process.

EXP strings are available for the full assortment of instruments, including electric and acoustic guitar, electric and acoustic bass, classical guitar and mandolin.

They are available in the same gauges as the best-selling XL electric sets EXL110, EXL120, EXL115, EXL125 and EXL140 and are shipping now.

These strings have been in high demand for quite a while now, and we’ve responded with a high-end coated electric string that we know will go above and beyond expectations,” said D’Addario CEO, Jim D’Addario. “The new EXP Electrics combine the favoured feel and tone of our famous XL strings, while combining the longevity of our popular EXP strings.”

EXP Electrics retail for £12.99 and include an introductory special of a free extra high E string in each set. EXP strings are available to buy now from D’Addario UK, as well as the other UK distributors, Summerfield and Strings & things.
