With final preparations in place, organizer runs through what’s on
The UK’s biggest music exhibition the London International Music Show (LIMS) starts in a week’s time at the Excel exhibition centre in London’s Docklands and is promising, over its four days, one of the most impressive MI shows ever seen in the UK.
As well as the dedicated trade day and the launch of over 80 new products from the 100-plus manufacturers and suppliers, the show will also feature class rock stars, an exhibition of the best music instrument brand names in the world and a host of exciting seminars and activities. It is looking to be the ultimate day out for anyone interested in music. From professional to amateur, classical to heavy metal, student to teacher, over the four days, the show offers real hands on experience to try, hear and see everything to do with making, recording and listening to music.
The final statement from the organiser’s communications office lists the highlights…
Over 200 of the world’s top instrument manufacturers displaying new innovations and the most exciting gear the music world has to offer, including those 80 world premieres.
A star-studded line up of musicians playing in the 3,000 capacity arena (including Steve Vai, Nicko McBrain, Prince’s drummer and bass player Cora and Josh Coleman and Jamiroquai’s Derrick and Sola).
Free music lessons courtesy of Tech Music Schools.
Free recording sessions courtesy of Yamaha and its Band for a Grand promotion.
A 1,000-piece band playing the premiere of the LIMS Anthem on June 12th (the educatio0n day, re-named as MfY Friday due to its sponsorship by the Music for Youth charity).
The final of Guitar Idol (the world’s biggest on-line guitar talent search).
Future publishing’s Musicradar.com offers the chance to meet the editors of all its music publications, including exclusive features and demonstrations with artists.
The Clem Burke Project (‘drummers fitter than footballers’ research) featuring Primal Scream’s Darrin Mooney.
Huge range of seminars workshops, including Alchemea with free Logic Pro 8 training, IGF in conversation with Amy Winehouse’s guitarist Howie Gondwe, IGF learn the top ten riffs of all time with John Wheatcroft, Apple’s Learn to Garage Band09 and ICMP with careers for the contemporary musician.
Sound on Sound will be back, of course, with a world class line-up of producers for its series of seminars, including Simon Grey (Jamiroquai), Devin Workman (David Gilmour) and Gareth Johnson (Kaiser Chiefs, The Who). Sound on Sound will also be giving away £20,000 worth of studio equipment in a prize draw at the show.
Celebrity signings from Black Stone Cherry, Steve Diggle (Buzzcocks), Sandi Thom, Doug Wimbish (Rolling Stones, Living Colour) and more.
Of particular interest around the trade has been the introduction this year of the so-called ‘retail village’, where UK retailers are able to sell goods on display at the show to visitors.
Stuff magazine has got involved with the Innovations Stand, where visitors can see the best music gadgets available (and being launched) at the show.
Mapex Beat Street: you’re chance to play the very latest drum kits
The LIMS show is promising to create the biggest buzz the UK’s MI trade has seen for some years. If you’re involved in music in any way, you are going to love this.
