MI giant encourages visitors to get recorded, get noticed and get better at LIMS

Yamaha is claiming a radically different approach to this year’s London International Music Show (LIMS). As well as showcasing its latest guitars, drums and music production products, the focus of the stand promises to be an ‘up close and personal’ approach with free professional recording opportunities on offer for the company’s popular Band for a Grand promotion. Also on hand will be Yamaha artists and leading practitioners ready to help visitors with their music making techniques.

Those attending will also be able to benefit from having their material professionally recorded for free and instantly uploaded to Yamaha's Download Live music site. The centrepiece of the stand will be a classic sixties US Airstream trailer (pictured) converted into a professional recording facility and manned by a team of engineers and producers.

This will provide, the company said, a unique opportunity not only to record in a first class studio environment, but also to get their material noticed through Yamaha's comprehensive online marketing tools.

Launched in 2008, Yamaha's Band for a Grand scheme offers upcoming bands help and incentives, including professional studio time and a range of free gear.

The winning bands are determined by public votes each month. The LIMS Band for a Grand programme is bound to be popular, so bands are required to register in advance by logging onto yamahadownload.co.uk. Yamaha will then notify successful entrants of their Airstream time slots.

Felicity Gregory, Yamaha’s artist relations manager commented: “Our aim at this show is to ensure that everyone who visits the Yamaha stand gets something to take away. We want all the people who visit us at LIMS to achieve something that will allow them to improve on their skills as music makers and we are helping that process by bringing along some of the industry’s top names, all of whom are committed to passing on invaluable knowledge and advice.”

Complementing the Download Mobile will be all the latest Yamaha Pulse concept zones. These areas will provide interactive experience of Yamaha's music production tools and the award winning DTX electronic drum range, all manned by Yamaha product specialists. The concept zones will also play host to the world launch of range of new products.

For the first time outside professional Commercial Audio division events, the Yamaha stand will also be showing the PM5D large-format digital mixing console. Visitors will be able to operate one of the industry’s most popular and advanced desks and create their own live mixes.
