Music For All helps Sky TV recycle instruments

The MIA charity Music For All, working with Re-Play, is to help Noel Edmonds’ Sky One TV ‘HQ’ programme provide ‘recycled’ musical instruments for a stricken South London school.

The school, which recently burned down and is without musical instruments, is to feature on the Sky One programme this coming Saturday (17th January), during which there will be an appeal for members of the public to take unwanted musical instruments to branches of HMV across the country. Music for All and Re-Play will ensure the instruments are serviceable before handling them over to the school, which will be using them to promote playing among children who would otherwise be unable to have access to a musical instrument.

Any instruments over and above what the school needs will be given to other worthy causes where people would not otherwise have be able to purchase an instrument, the MIA says.

Edmonds has recently been appearing on national TV chat shows, promoting the scheme and following the first transmission, this Saturday, updates will be broadcast each week until 14th February.

Leading retailer Percussion Plus has already supported the school by providing some loaned instruments in the interim.
