Advice services and foreign exchange brokerage in latest member offers

The Music Industries Association has recently been co-operating with a number of organisations to allow its members preferential access to their services.

The first of these is S. Johnson & Company, which has been providing independent financial advice for over 20 years.

Initially providing general financial advice, ten years ago the company began to specialise in investment work advising both personal and corporate clients. Coincidentally, Steve Johnson and his team have also been working with the Music Industries Association for ten years providing business insurance advice to its members (MIA members receive a ten per cent discount on its insurance services). They are now pleased to also offer their financial advice services to MIA members.

Johnson is able to offer expert financial advice from start-up through to retirement. He holds many advanced qualifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute and, while specialising in personal investments, can also offer pensions investment advice and an investment review facility.

It is this investment review facility, which may be especially relevant to MIA members wanting to look at their current financial situation. As a special offer to MIA members, the company is willing to provide an initial investment discussion free of charge – to include an overall strategic review of investments. Johnson and his team will analyse an existing portfolio and make a commentary thereon. Points they will consider include: risk level of portfolio, overall asset allocation, geographical spread, correlation (how different investments interact) and past performance.

The team will provide a report that covers the above points and if required make recommendations based on your specific circumstances.

For further information on the overall investment process, visit the S. Johnson & Company website at: www.riskandreturn.co.uk or call Steve Johnson on: 0121 327 1977 or contact him via the website.

The MIA has also entered a new partnership with SGM Foreign Exchange (SGM-FX), whereby SGM is now the recommended FX brokerage for the MIA and its members.

Foreign exchange brokers such as SGM-FX buy and sell foreign currency directly from the market traders on behalf of its clients for their foreign currency requirements.

Having formed an exclusive relationship with MIA, SGM is now able to offer all MIA members a privileged rate of exchange, no matter how much or how often they employ its services.

To do this, SGM treats all MIA members as one big buying group enabling it to offer all each member a good rate of exchange on whatever they transfer. The company offers MIA members the following benefits:

  • Savings on currency purchases by offering highly competitive foreign exchange rates with no commission.
  • Free registration without any obligation to trade.
  • Free currency transfers for transactions of greater than £20,000 (£5 for anything less).
  • A Personal MIA account manager who will provide a proactive personal service that guides you through the purchase process.
  • Provide up to the minute information about rates, trends and forecasts allowing informed decisions.
  • Alerts to positive and adverse market conditions so that customers can buy at the ‘high’ rather than the ‘low’.
  • ‘Forward’ buying facilities where customers can fix the rate in advance and not worry about the exchange rate moving against them.
  • The ability to access the 24-hour FX market. By using SGM-FX, customers can place automated instructions in the market (market orders) that will take advantage of any sudden movements no matter what time of the day or night. (For further information please call the company’s office).
  • Help with your foreign supplier account payments. The company’s PDQFX direct debit scheme allows regular payments to other countries to be handled entirely by itself through direct debit, at time intervals chosen by the customer. SGM does not charge for payments over £500 and for less, there is a £5 transfer fee.
Registration forms can be downloaded from: www.sgm-fx.com or requested via email or post. Please call 020 7220 1740 or e-mail sarahw@sgm-fx.com.
