Latest peripheral would appear to mark a departure from Gibson
US-based MMR magazine reports that Activision, maker of Guitar Hero has sent pictures showing off its new peripherals for the next game in the Guitar Hero series, World Tour, and that it's noticeable that the new guitar accompanying it is not a Gibson.
This sends a strong signal that the two companies are still at odds with each other. In May Gibson filed a claim in court that the company infringed on a 1999 patent, even though it had worked with the company for years by allowing its Les Paul guitar likeness to be used. Activision quickly filed a counter-suit and the dispute does not appear to have been resolved.
In other Guitar Hero news, Beatles representatives are in talks with Activision about creating a Beatles-themed game, according to a report on the Financial Times website. A source has apparently said that should a deal materialise, it will be worth millions of dollars and could be reached in a matter of weeks.
