Music Planet mag designed to reflect the interests of Dolphin customers
Dolphin Music has announced that it will start distributing its own quarterly customer magazine in September.
The publication, named Music Planet, will have a minimum circulation of 40,000 printed copies per issue, with additional penetration being provided by an online presence.
Music Planet is designed to reflect the varied interests of Dolphin's broad range of existing customers, and to appeal to potential new customers and even non-playing music enthusiasts. Gig reviews, venue guides and new music coverage will supplement product reviews, technique features and artist interviews, all of which will span a variety of musical genres and equipment categories.
"We have always been committed to customer service and firmly believe Music Planet is a great way to give something back to our loyal customers," says Jason Tavaria, joint MD of Dolphin. "As a company, we are very aware of the benefits of trading online, but also believe in the power and value of physical magazines. Music Planet will be a great tool for both ourselves and our suppliers, and a great read for our customers."
The publishing and editorial side of the Music Planet project will be handled by Note Media, the specialist customer publishing operation founded by former Music Tech Magazine editor Neil Worley.
"We are extremely pleased to be given the opportunity to work on such an exciting new project as Music Planet with such a forward-looking company as Dolphin Music," says Worley. "Customer magazines are a great way to reward customers for their loyalty, and are a particularly valuable tool in the retail sector. Dolphin and their supplier partners stand to benefit enormously by being able to talk directly to such a large UK audience."
Advertising sales will be handled by Dolphin themselves, under the direction of Dolphin's recently appointed director of marketing, Paul Harris. "Music Planet is one of the key components in Dolphin's expansion strategy," says Harris. "Some copies of Music Planet will be mailed out to existing and potential customers, while others will be picked up by visitors to our stores in Liverpool, Huddersfield and Gateshead."
