Major consumer MI publisher announces extensive portal for music makers

Future Publishing will be launching its new music website, Music Radar, later this month at www.musicradar.com, following the success of the Games Radar and Bike Radar sites and over a year of research and development.

Music Radar will cover all aspects of modern music making – across guitar, drums and technology, as well as including the latest news from the publisher’s dedicated US and UK editorial teams, bringing together thousands of reviews and other content from Future’s magazines, including the world’s best-selling guitar title, Guitar World, Europe’s top selling Total Guitar and the drumming magazine, Rhythm.

The site will combine user-generated content with a ‘strong community functionality’. It is aimed at both hobbyist and professional musicians across the globe to share their passion for music, from the instruments themselves, through to music production and user generated reviews. There will be a profile page to act as a showcase for musicians’ talents, with music, pictures and video all uploadable and sharable.

The website launches with over 2,000 product reviews written by Future’s gear reviewers, with video tutorials and a vast database of professionally recorded royalty free music samples, available free for registered MusicRadar users to create their own tracks.

“For anyone who is passionate about making music, there’s not really anything like Music Radar,” commented Katherine Raderecht, the site’s group publisher. “We can offer an incredible resource for anyone who wants to know about products – our review experts are the best in the business -  and the web is perfect for delivering the rich-media content that we know musicians want, wherever they are.” She went on to point out that the site has already signed up a number of high profile advertisers including Sony, Roland and Dolphin.

“Alongside games and cycling, music has been a large part of Future’s magazine portfolio for nearly twenty years,” added Future UK’s CEO, Robert Price. “MusicRadar allows passionate musicians to come together and meet like minded enthusiasts online.”
