The Art Council's first three months a resounding success
Since its launch, the Take It Away scheme has seen a thousand musicians make use of the loans, racking up impressive sales figures across the UK.
A whopping sixty per cent of customers said that the scheme had allowed them to make purchases that would otherwise have been impossible, with guitars by far the most popular instrument, totaling a third of sales.
Take It Away allows customers to apply for a loan of up to £2000 for any musical instrument purchase, to be paid back over a period of nine months.
“People’s response has been fantastic," commented Arts Council development manager Mary-Alice Stack "We knew Take it away would be popular but even we are amazed by how quickly it’s taken off. People are obviously hungry for music so we hope sales in the run-up to Christmas will be even better.”
