Olympia to host short term cover after BMF cancellation

The British Piano Show will take place this year after the show’s organiser, Colin Holdsworth, confirmed that the Pillar Hall (pictured) in the Olympia exhibition complex had been booked and all of the exhibitors confirmed.

The show will take place on the dates the now defunct BMF was due to be held, on September 16th and 17th and will see all of the major British piano manufacturers and suppliers in attendance: Kemble, Intermusic, Piano Warehouse, Kawai, Reid-Sohn and Yamaha.

“The Pillar Hall is a self-contained building and is ideal for this sort of show,” commented Holdsworth. “At such short notice, I was approached a mere eight weeks before the show was due to open, the hall is excellent. When you are talking some 70 pianos in a room, the logistics are quite formidable, but here everything is catered for.”

Holdsworth went on to say that he had held back on announcing the show until this late stage to dealers as he wanted to be certain he had the exhibitors and the venue in place before he started raising people’s hopes.

Dealers are invited to simply turn up at the exhibition, or for further details contact him on 020 8866 6230 or colin@cphexh.org.uk.

On a separarte issue, Colin Holdsworth also pointed out that Department of Trade & Industry grants of £1,800 are still available for those wishing to exhibit at the Music China show in Shanghai in October, but that the deadline is fast approaching.

“Anyone wishing to take advantage of this needs to act quickly,” he pointed out. “But it is worth noting that the profile of visitor to the Shanghai show is very different from other shows and an exhibitor can meet an entirely different group of potential customers here.”
