Allianz introduces liquid coding product for identification
As of August 1st, new and renewing policy holders of Allianz’s musical insurance will be provided with a new forensic coding product, Smartwater, which links coded possessions directly with their owners.
Smartwater contains a unique code which is simply dabbed into the nooks and crannies of the musical instrument, from which only one billionth of a part is required to provide irrefutable evidence to secure convictions. Allianz claims that using the system can all but eliminate the chances of instruments being stolen, having been used by police forces across the country in an effort to deter crime.
"By protecting musical instruments with SmartWater, Allianz Musical Insurance's policyholders are five times less likely to suffer criminal victimisation,” said Phil Cleary, the chief executive of Smartwater. “This system has the power to deter criminals to the point of abandoning their plans altogether."
