Dave Roberts Jun 26 2007, 2:30pm
New limited edition guitars and amps will help do God's work
Fender is backing the philanthropic efforts of one of its most beloved players, Eric Clapton, through the launch of a very limited edition Stratocaster, with proceeds going to the Crossroads Centre in Antigua.
The drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation facility was founded by Clapton in 1998 and he has remained committed to the cause ever since. Fender is backing his efforts with the launch of the Eric Clapton Crossroads Stratocaster (or Sun Strat), which will be produced in a limited run of just 100 units.
It is also creating 50 Crossroads '57 Twin-Amps. 50 of the Strats will be paired with these amps and sold as Crossroads platinum packages for $30K.
The other 50 guitars will be sold for $20K.
All models will carry a Crossroads Antigua graphic, designed by Clapton himself. They go on sale exclusively at www.fender.com on July 20th. All profits will go to the Crossroads Centre.
“We are extremely honoured to work with Eric on these limited edition Crossroads guitars and amps,” said Mike Eldred, Fender Custom Shop director Crossroads Centre, Antigua and to show our great love and appreciation for Eric.”
