Yamaha introduces new Clavinova CLP-600 digital piano series

There are six models in the new series, each offering the sounds of the Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial.

Yamaha has introduced the all-new CLP-600 series, boasting a range of developments and enhancements to its award-winning Clavinova digital piano range.

The range brings together the sounds of Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand piano and the legendary Bosendorfer Imperial: one of the most revered instruments ever built. It also debuts a series of significant new features that bring the pianist closer to their musical performance and aspirations.

In all, there are six models: the CLP-625, CLP-635, CLP-645, CLP-675, CLP-685, and the CLP-665 Grand Piano (pictured).

Each piano offers the sounds of the Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial and incorporates the highly sophisticated Binaural sampling system, in which samples are recorded from the player’s perspective, ensuring an exceptional and intimate playing experience through headphones.

All models in the new CLP-600 series feature an exceptionally detailed piano keyboard action based around the mechanical ‘escapement’ characteristic found on acoustic instruments. Each piano also features uniquely crafted synthetic ebony and ivory key-tops with many models also benefiting from natural wood white keys.

The CLP-600 series introduces an entirely new action: GrandTouch. For the first time in 21 years, GrandTouch represents a major breakthrough in Clavinova keyboard action design. Featuring in CLP-675 and CLP-685, the exceptionally accurate key length and completely redesigned feel of GrandTouch takes the piano-pianist relationship to a new level.

The innovative Virtual Resonance Modelling technology recreates the natural resonance of nearly every aspect of an acoustic grand piano. The significantly enhanced VRM technology features in all models from CLP-635 upwards.

Models from the CLP-645 onwards feature, for the first time, Bluetooth audio. This allows the player to stream audio from devices such as phones and tablets. This new feature opens up a whole new range of possibilities for learning and practice, with the added benefit of turning the professionally specified internal audio into a complete wireless audio system.

Yamaha’s Leanne Barrell commented: “The new CLP-600 series of pianos breaks down the barriers previously felt between a pianist and their digital piano. The new models feel and respond in a truly organic way. We are delighted to further enhance the range with a series of features which we are sure our customers are going to love.”
