Spitfire Audio announces PP027 – North 7 Vintage Keys

The collection samples four meticulously-maintained Sixties- and Seventies-vintage keyboard classics.

The latest software from Spitfire aims to bring 20th Century sonic characteristics into the present day.

Spitfire Audio has announced the availability of its latest virtual instrument software, PP027 – North 7 Vintage Keys

The new collection samples four meticulously-maintained Sixties- and Seventies-vintage keyboard classics played by session supremo Sean Hargreaves and recorded by engineer extraordinaire Simon Changer, providing a truly ‘Spitfire’ take on electric pianos for Native Instruments’ industry-standard KONTAKT player platform.

PP027 - North 7 Vintage Keys sees Spitfire Audio placing a Fender Rhodes 73 Mk 1, Fender Rhodes piano bass, Hohner Clavinet, and Wurlitzer EP200A (a.k.a. ‘The Wurly’) in front of Hargreaves for faithful capture courtesy of North Seven Studios founder, fellow producer, and engineer Changer’s collection of the finest fragments from the decimated London large-scale studio scene.

The resulting sample-based virtual instrument incorporates the Spitfire Electric Piano (or ‘EP’), Electric Clavinet (or ‘Clav’), Stage Piano (a.k.a. ‘The Wurly’), and Electric Piano Bass (a.k.a. ‘Finger Bass’), thoroughly tested by keyboard-playing professionals for the most realistic response.

As an added ‘Spitfire’ twist to the signature sounds of those electric pianos, PP027 - North 7 Vintage Keys is presented in Spitfire Audio’s proprietary eDNA engine to warp those 20th Century sonic characteristics into the 21st.

Spitfire Audio’s ‘in-house funkateer’ Christian Henson has helpfully stepped up to the musical plate with a whole host of deftly-designed presets, providing insight into the creative potential of this collaboration. Characterful, vibey, and quite unlike any contemporary vintage virtual instrument library of its type, PP027 - North 7 Vintage Keys provides users with welcome scope to take those vintage classic keyboards and musically make them their own.

PP027 - North 7 Vintage Keys can be purchased and digitally downloaded from Spitfire Audio for £199.
