NAMM 2017: New iRig Acoustic Stage and iRig Pro I/O unveiled by IK Multimedia

The iRig Acoustic Stage in action.

iRig Pro I/O lets musicians hook up gear to their mobile device or computer and record 24-bit/96kHz pro-quality audio and MIDI tracks.

IK Multimedia has unveiled two new additions to its iRig range – The iRig Acoustic Stage and the iRig Pro I/O.

Both devices will be on display at this year’s NAMM show.

IK’s iRig Acoustic Stage combines an advanced MEMS microphone that clips on to the sound hole of an acoustic instrument with a preamp and DSP unit that captures all the tone, vibe and "air" of the instrument when playing live or recording in home and project studios.

“The synergy between its components and the advanced signal processing makes iRig Acoustic Stage a revolutionary solution for accurately reproducing - and improving - the sound of all types of acoustic guitars and other instruments, in any situation, with studio-grade performance, advanced features, ease of installation and a convenience never seen before in any competing product,” said the firm.

Playing an acoustic on stage in a live setting will almost always generate some type of acoustic feedback or-hard-to-control resonances. iRig Acoustic Stage features a built-in digital feedback suppression algorithm - a handy easy-access feature on the preamp/DSP unit that quickly eliminates the offending frequencies from the live sound with the press of an oversize button.

iRig Acoustic Stage also features an AUX input with a mix knob. This input is designed for use with an acoustic electric's onboard piezo or magnetic pickup. The AUX input allows players to utilise the piezo pickup system and blend in just the right amount of microphone signal. There's also a phase inversion switch that lets users swap the phase of the microphone or AUX signal to provide the best possible sound from all guitars.

As well as all this, iRig Acoustic Stage comes with a class-compliant USB audio output making it perfect for direct connection to a computer or a mobile device for plug-and-play recording in any DAW or recording app.

iRig Acoustic Stage is available now from the IK Multimedia online store, and IK retailers worldwide for €99.99.

IK Multimedia has also announced details about the iRig Pro I/O – the successor to the popular iRig Pro.

iRig Pro I/O is a simple "plug and play" interface that lets musicians hook up all of their gear – guitars, basses, studio mics, vocal mics, keyboards – to their mobile devices or computers and record 24-bit/96kHz pro-quality audio and MIDI tracks.

iRig Pro I/O features a high quality 1/8" headphone/line out with level control for use with the latest Apple devices like the iPhone 7 to connect to headphones, mixers, or powered monitor speakers in an ultra-compact enclosure that fits in a pocket and can be carried anywhere.

iRig Pro I/O can operate with its onboard 2 x AA batteries (included) when connected to an iPhone/iPad, or on USB power when used with a Mac or PC. It also features a new DC in port that, when used with its dedicated power supply unit, will charge a connected iPhone or iPad while in use for unlimited playing or recording time, on stage and in the studio.

iRig Pro I/O will be available in April 2017 from the IK Multimedia online store and IK authorised dealers worldwide for €149.99.
