NAMM 2016: New Carlsbro and Studiomaster launches

Carlsbro Stingray

The new Stingray 16R is one of numerous new products announced by Carlsbro and Studiomaster at NAMM 2016.

Several new lines were launched at the LA show.

Last month’s NAMM show saw Carlsbro and Studiomaster introduce a selection of new products.

Carlsbro showed two new guitar amplifiers. The Sherwood10, a new entry model in the acoustic amp series, which is already shipping, and the Stingray D10, shown for the first time anywhere and described by the firm as “a classic British high gain input” digital modelling guitar amplifier. It is scheduled to ship in Q2 of 2016.

The Sherwood 10 is a 10W, ultra compact combo with a 6.5” full range speaker; it features a single jack guitar input, three-band EQ and a 35mm audio input/headphone output. The Stingray D10, meanwhile, is a 10W portable, digital modelling stereo combo. With an extremely compact footprint and weighing less than 3.5kg, it features eight different amplifier models, from Clean to Acoustic, to Classic British High Gain Input, as well as three-band EQ and an effects engine and delay/reverb control.

Connecting the amplifier to a PC, the modelling sounds can be adjusted with the supplied dedicated software. Stereo sound is provided by a class-D power amplifier and 2x 2-inch speakers behind the front grille. Rechargeable integrated Lithium batteries provide up to eight hours mains free operation and subtle ‘valve glow’ simulation indicates the amp is powered on.

Also new and making its international debut was the Studiomaster digiLiVE 16R. An ultra-compact ‘blackbox’ variant of the new Studiomaster digiLiVE 16 hybrid concept micro-mixer (featuring simultaneous remote tablet and hardware surface control), also shown on the booth, the digiLiVE16R provides the same internal features, I/O and buss specifications as the digiLiVE 16 in a compact rackmount unit, fully controllable, via Wi-Fi, from an iPad.

The digiLiVE 16R offer 16 input –16-bus – eight output configuration DSP technology including 40-bit floating point on 4th generation SHARC processing and proprietary mix algorithms for EQ, dynamics and FX. 12 XLR mic input channels, 24 bit / 192 kHz AD / DA conversion, and up to eight internal effects busses – with reverb, delay, 15 band EQ and modulation - are also included. The eight ‘smart’ XLR analogue outputs are assignable. Outputs also include digital AES/EBU and SPDIF. AUSB interface supports playback and recording, scene storage and system updating.
