Designed for those seeking a signature acoustic with better affordability, but one that also delivers a high level of performance.
A fan of maple Grand Auditorium acoustic models, Doyle Dykes and Taylor Guitars came up with the Deluxe model in order to offer a high quality Doyle-approved guitar for those with a budget that doesn't stretch as far as what his other signature instrument – the DDSM – requires.
The Doyle Deluxe (DDX) is a maple laminate Grand Auditorium model with solid sitka spruce top and comes in black with an attractive gloss finish.
It also features Chet-Atkins-style fretboard inlays, a stylised signature design on the headstock, crisp white binding, a 25.5-inch scale length and a narrower 1-11/16-inch neck.
This guitar comes equipped with Taylor's under-saddle ES-T pickup as well, which includes the same active controls and full Expression System – a major feature on other Taylor models.
"When I played it for the first time, I thought, that's a good guitar!" says Doyle. "The simple, elegant design is very pretty and with the curvature of the back, it forces tone out. It definitley has a sound that's all its own, yet at the same time is very much Taylor."
