Spectrum Music up for sale

Increasingly online-dominated business leads to owner putting long-established store on market.

Spectrum Music in Whitefield, Manchester, has been established for more than 18 years and in that time has built up a customer base consisting of semi-pro and pro musicians, local schools and venues.

Having spent more than 25 years in retail, owner Steve Nield said he has seen a major change in the shopping habits of his customer base, moving towards online. The firm has recently overhauled its website at www.spectrummusic.co.uk .

Neild said: "The store business has done us proud for many years but the internet potential added on to that makes the business very lucrative".

With other projects taking up more of his time, Nield said he has now realised that he has nor the time or know-how to expand that side of things and is now looking for a buyer that has fresh ideas and internet knowledge.

The store sells electric, acoustic and bass guitars, amplification, some PA and lighting and offers guitar tuition in its lesson room. It also has a repair workshop. It is situated on a corner position of Manchesters busiest main road - Bury New Road which travels from Manchester to Bury.
