Mel Bay is among the latest inductees into the St Louis Walk of Fame, a brass-plaque dedication on the pavement in downtown St Louis.
The St Louis Walk of Fame was founded in 1988, based on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, to provide a showcase for the cultural heritage of St Louis and to advance the knowledge, awareness and appreciation of great St Louisans and their accomplishments.
The Walk of Fame itself consists of sets of brass stars and bronze plaques honoring individuals from the area who have made national contributions to American cultural heritage.
Each star features the name of an honoree and an accompanying plaque contains a brief biographical summary. The informational plaques set the St Louis Walk of Fame apart from other similar projects around the US and help make it educational and inspirational as well as enjoyable.
Mel Bay's induction will be on. June 30th on Delmar Boulevard. Mel Bay's son William Bay and daughter Susan Bay Banks will accept for the late Bay. Bay published his instruction manual The Orchestral Chord System for Guitar as well as the famous Modern Guitar Method, still in publication today.
